From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser. Chocolate dough,
chopped walnuts (optional) and caramel filled Rolos- how can you go
wrong? I've seen this recipe a few times, all with variations. Use
walnuts, pecans, or no nuts. Replace the rolo with a pb cup or
chocolate kiss. Drizzle additional chocolate on top... However you
make them, they're sure to be a hit.
Beat: 1 c butter, beat until creamy
Add: 1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar, packed
Add: 2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Add: 2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 c cocoa
Add: 1/2 c walnuts, chopped
Cover & refrigerate 2 hours or overnight.
OPTIONAL: 1/2 c walnuts, chopped
1 Tbsp sugar
Take a spoonful of dough & wrap it around a Rolo candy.
Roll into a ball.
Dip top into nut & sugar mix, if desired.
Bake nut side up on GREASED cookie sheet.
Bake @ 375, 10 minutes
Let set 8 minutes before moving to wire racks to cool.
Must let set so caramel doesn't drip out.
Notes:
These bake beautifully on stone, no greasing
required. -Stephanie Knewasser
