From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser.  Simple recipe.  I like this
on toasted slices of
Grandma' English Muffin Bread.  Great way to
use apples in the fall.  Freezes well.
Peel, core, then shred 5 1/2 pounds apples (about 13 large)
in a food processor.  Don't have a food processor?  Just slice/
chunk.

Place in a crock pot:
the prepared apples
2 c sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
Stir.
Cover & cook on high for 1 hour.
Reduce heat to low & cook about 9 hours.
Stir occasionally.
It should be thick & dark brown.
Cook uncovered for an hour to thicken.
Keep refrigerated or freeze.
