From the kitchen of Stephanie Knewasser., I
found this wonderful recipe at allrecipes.com. It
has a buttercream frosting consistency & dries
hard for stacking. It tastes great.
Cream:
1/3 c crisco
1/3 c margarine
4 c confectioner sugar
2 Tbsp milk
Cream until light & fluffy.
Add:
1 tsp vanilla
(also good with lemon or almond)
Divide into bowls,
add food coloring.
Add additional milk if too dificult to spread.
Drys hard, good for stacking.
Frosting kept well covered in fridge for a week.
I spread the white frosting on, then piped
the red lines on using a baggie.
